An important
fact about Next Day Air and other express shipping
methods:
- Upgrading to
Next Day Air does not mean you'll get your
order the next day.
Upgrading to Next Day or Second Day Air does
not change how long it takes us to assemble
and ship your order--it only reduces the
travel time after the book leaves our
warehouse. For example, an item marked as
"Usually shipped within 2 to 3
days" and upgraded to Next Day Air will
usually leave our warehouse on the 2nd or 3rd
business day and reach you on the 3rd or 4th
business day.
How many shipments
will we make to satisfy an order?
- If you select the
"Make one shipment when complete
order is ready" option on the order
form, we wait until we have all the books
in your order before shipping any of them.
For example, if you place an order for two
books, one marked as "Usually shipped
within 2 to 3 days" and the other marked
"Special Order: usually shipped within 4
to 6 weeks," we hold shipment of the
first book until the special order book is
available, at which time we ship both books
to you in one package. You can avoid any
delay by selecting the "Ship as
ordered books become available"
option on the order form or by placing
separate orders for books in different
availability categories.
Note about
out-of-print titles: Any out-of-print books
in your order will automatically be shipped
separately, even if you choose "Make one
shipment when complete order is ready."
- If you select
the "Ship as ordered books become
available" option on the order
form, your shipping charges will
increase, but if you order books in
multiple availability categories, we will
ship the more readily available books
sooner. If you select this option, we
make an effort to ship books as soon as
we obtain them, while at the same time
not making any more shipments than
necessary (to save you some money).
Shipping time
Shipping times
listed reflect the time it takes for the package
to travel from our warehouse to your door. To
determine how long it will take for your package
to arrive from the moment of your order, add the
availability time to the shipping time.
(Availability)
+ (Shipping Time) = Total Delivery Time
For example, an
item marked as "Usually shipped within 2 to
3 days" and upgraded to 2nd Day Air will
usually leave our warehouse on the 2nd or 3rd
business day and reach you on the 4th or 5th
business day.
A note about
standard shipping:
Packages sent via standard shipping go by surface
mail. Shipping time varies widely depending on
destination. In our experience, standard
shipments take about 2 to 3 weeks to Canada, 6
weeks to the United Kingdom., 6 to 8 weeks to
Japan and Australia, and 10 to 12 weeks to
Brazil, to name a few.
What about customs?
We mark
international packages (destinations outside the
U.S.) as containing "Books--New" and
state the cost of the books on the customs
documentation; if the order is a gift, the
package is marked "Gift," but the cost
of the books is still stated on the customs form.
Currently, we are not able to describe the
contents in any other way.
Any customs or
import duties are levied once the package reaches
your country. Additional charges for customs
clearance must be borne by you; we have no
control over these charges and cannot predict
what they may be. Customs policies vary widely
from country to country; you may want to contact
your local customs office for further
information.
