J'ai créé ce site web dans le cadre du présent désastre de verglas pour répondre aux besoins d'information concernant la sécurité. En tant que spécialiste en santé et sécurité, j'ai été consterné de constater le nombre élevé de cas d'hypothermie et d'empoisonnement au monoxyde de carbone. Bien qu'ayant un doctorat en hygiène industrielle (santé et sécurité), j'ai aussi fait appel à ma formation en planification d'urgence, secours en montagne, sécurité d'hiver, premiers soins et à mon expérience en camping d'hiver pour rédiger ces fiches de sécurité. J'espère que la diffusion de ces fiches de sécurité contribuera à réduire les épreuves vécues par les sinistrés et qu'elles les aideront à se préparer pour la prochaine panne d'électricité

After our power was restored, I created this website in response to the current ice storm disaster. As a health and safety specialist, I was especially dismayed by the high number of cases of carbon monoxide poisoning and hypothermia. Although I have a doctorat in industrial hygiene (occupational health and safety), I also drew upon my training in disaster planning, mountain rescue, winter safety, first aid and my experience in winter camping while writing these safety sheets. It is my hope that these safety sheets will contribute to reducing the hardship faced by those deprived of power and that it will help people to plan for the next power failure.
